2nd Maryland Continental Infantry

“Let us therefore animate and encourage each other, and show the whole world that a Freeman, contending for liberty on his own ground, is superior to any slavish mercenary on earth.”

George Washington, 1776

Though the Continental Army started from humble beginnings in difficult circumstances, it had by 1779 been moulded into an effective and formidable fighting force.

This unit represents the 2nd Maryland Regiment of Continental Infantry wearing the uniform prescribed in the general orders of 1779. Blue coats, faced red with white linen small-clothes and overalls. They are Perry Miniatures plastics and were a joy to paint.
